KYNJARMEN FARM STORY
Kynjarmen Farm is blessed with rich volcanic soils and borders the edge of Lake Okororie with great views to the Kaimai ranges. The farm was purchased by Mark and Jenny Eyers in 1980 from Mark’s parents who ran a sheep and cattle farm in the area.
Mark a keen crop farmer and Jenny a qualified Jeweller – together they have grown a variety of crops over the last 30 years in addition to raising 4 sons – Lucas, Elliot, Isaac & Kowan. We have had bee hives on the property for a number of years which has turned into a passion and successful business that all the family is now involved in.
Kynjarmen Farm now produces a range of different honeys from our beehives which are spread across the upper North Island of New Zealand. We carefully select our beehives sites to ensure the ongoing health of our bee colony whilst also enabling us to produce high quality honey’s that are suitable for export. We also produce Extra Virgin Olive Oil from 300 Olive Trees planted on the property and there is a B&B for travellers to enjoy.
Currently we are under going a program of planting native trees, plant species and crops throughout the property to improve bio-diversity and provide on-going nectar and pollen source to our bee colonies. We are communicating with our beehive site owners regarding best land practice for the health and wellbeing of bees and the benefits they provide to their pastures and crops.
We also supply beehives to the horticultural industry for pollination at kiwi-fruit, avocado and citrus orchards. To date we are receiving excellent feedback about the quality and health of our hives.
We are constantly working on other products to bring to market so stay tuned for updates…
Our 2017 clover honey is harvested from our apiaries around the South Waikato & Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand. With a golden amber colour, aromatic scent and slight taste of caramel this honey is a delight to the senses. There are no added ingredients – its just natural honey as nature intended.
